Observe a live broadcast of Russian citizens casting their votes for the second day of the presidential election on Saturday, March 16th.
It is anticipated that the rigged election will solidify Vladimir Putin’s fifth consecutive term as President, which is expected to span a minimum of six years.
The upcoming vote will be carefully orchestrated and occur in regions of Ukraine currently under Russian control.
Several instances of vandalism have been reported at polling locations, including a firebombing, while citizens cast their votes.
From 15 to 17 March, voters will have the option to select one of four candidates, including Mr. Putin.
The population of Russia is approximately 143.4 million. Out of these, 112.3 million are eligible to vote in the election, and an estimated 70-80 million usually exercise their right to vote.
At 71 years old, Putin does not have many challengers as his opponents are either imprisoned or living outside the country, and the most well-known challenger, Alexei Navalny, passed away while serving a sentence in a distant Arctic penal colony last month.
The remaining three contenders are lesser-known political figures from minor opposition parties who follow the Kremlin’s stance.
