Pep Guardiola is confident that Manchester City supporters will provide the team with support during a rough patch.
Fans of the city have experienced nothing but triumph under Guardiola’s leadership, claiming five Premier League championships and an impressive treble in the previous season.
Guardiola is aware that the streak may eventually be broken and he hopes that the fans, who are accustomed to being entertained, will be able to motivate the team at that time.
The Spanish speaker expressed their desire for the fans to have a great time and experience good moments for an hour and 30 minutes. This is something that is within our control. When we perform well, the fans are always present.
Sometimes things don’t go as planned, but it’s not because the players lack desire. They have shown consistency over many years, but in that particular moment, we need them to step up.
“We have achieved great success and it is important to recognize that this is not something that happens frequently. Winning the treble and five Premier Leagues in six years is not a common occurrence.”
“It’s important to keep enjoying the good times, but it’s also crucial to be prepared and present for any challenges that come your way this season and in the future.”
“I am confident that they will be present, as this club has transitioned from Maine Road and a mid-table position to consistently competing for titles.”
I was absent, but others updated me. If things start to decline, let’s motivate each other and push forward. Take action to regain our position as the top team and don’t stay down for too long.
Guardiola is certain that the current team would prevent a decline from happening.
He stated, “The players are of utmost importance, and I am aware that they understand this, otherwise our achievements would not be possible.”
Despite being down 0-2, the players continue to persevere and put forth effort.
Guardiola’s ability to motivate others is widely recognized, although he has downplayed the impact of his strong remarks following last season’s match against Tottenham as he gets ready to face them again on Sunday.
In the beginning of 2023, the City team experienced a decline in performance and had to make a comeback from being down 2-0 against Spurs to avoid a third consecutive defeat.
Following that, Guardiola referred to his team as the “Happy Flowers,” essentially accusing them of lacking focus.
Observers later identified it as a crucial moment in their successful season of winning three major titles.
Guardiola expressed, “That was my sentiment at the time. I felt the need to speak up. While our victory may suggest success, it is not necessarily the reality. People may praise me for it, but in reality, it could fail if we were to repeat it.”
