Megan Rapinoe thinks that the individuals who rejoiced over her Achilles injury, which led to the end of her career, are deserving of a “special place in hell”.

The ex-soccer player, aged 38, was forced to leave the field only three minutes into the NWSL Championship match last November, while her teammates from OL Reign ultimately suffered a defeat against Gotham FC.

After some time had passed since the devastating conclusion to her career, Rapinoe spoke to those who took joy in her suffering.

“I am seen as a controversial figure and it’s amusing that people both admire and falsely portray me in these idealized stories,” she shared on the Pablo Torre Finds Out podcast.

“I am shocked that you are celebrating this, it’s like you are in a special place in hell.”
