In a heart-wrenching turn of events, a triathlon participant stumbled just shy of the finish line.
Mika Noodt, a German athlete, was in the lead for the majority of the Challenge Vieux Boucau triathlon until he was narrowly beaten at the finish line.
Upon reaching the last turn, Noodt begins a final surge as he accelerates towards the finish line.
As he nears the finish line, he glances back to see another runner closely following behind.
Subsequently, Noodt appears to lose command of his lower limbs and collapses onto the ground.
His opponent secures the victory.
