Rob Page, the manager of Wales, urged his team to swiftly bounce back from their 4-1 victory against Finland and regain their form as they prepare to compete against Poland for a spot in Euro 2024.
Midfielder David Brooks fired Wales into an early lead and Nottingham Forest full-back Neco Williams clipped in a well-worked free-kick before Finland pulled a goal back ahead of the break from Teemu Pukki.
However, Wales regained their lead early in the second half with Tottenham’s Brennan Johnson scoring, followed by a fourth goal from substitute Daniel James on a breakaway.
In the semi-finals of Path A, Poland emerged victorious with a score of 5-1 against Estonia.
Page is aware that a more difficult challenge awaits with Robert Lewandowski and his team when Wales comes back to the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday night.
Page said on S4C, “This demonstrates the progress we have made, but the important reminder is that we are only halfway through.”
“We are embarking on a major undertaking again on Tuesday and we are eager with anticipation.”
“We are displeased with the goal we allowed. It led to a few uneasy moments. However, our impressive start to the second half is a testament to the team once again. I believe they were exceptional.”
”
“We will savor the victory, but we will also use it as a foundation and carry it with us into Tuesday.”
“These fans are incredible and they once again supported us tonight.”
Williams added: “We came into this game with a game plan, and I think it worked out as good as it can go.
The team put on an impressive display and it bodes well for the upcoming match on Tuesday.
“We’re not finished yet, as we still have one more game to play. Hopefully, we will have a strong showing and secure our spot in the Euros.”
