The Liverpool team’s coach, Jurgen Klopp, expressed contentment with their 4-0 win against LASK, guaranteeing them first place in their Europa League group with one game remaining.
Two goals from Cody Gakpo and one apiece from Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah, his 199th for the club, saw them coast past the Austrians at Anfield.
Toulouse’s tie with Union Saint-Gilloise resulted in Klopp’s team securing the top spot and most importantly, avoiding the play-off round when the competition resumes in February.
“Klopp mentioned that we had two successful outcomes in the group tonight.”
”
After losing to Toulouse in our previous game, it became more challenging for us. However, due to our team’s victory and their defeat, we currently hold the top spot in the rankings and that will remain unchanged.
“That is excellent, especially considering our hectic schedule going forward.”
“The game had many positives and showcased good football. However, I expressed my disappointment to the team at half-time that the game should have been secured by then.”
“You can’t improve your gameplay, you can’t strategize better, but you can definitely finish stronger – which we failed to do.”
Kelleher was determined to keep a clean sheet and he achieved his goal, which is commendable.
“We were able to score a fourth goal in the final minute, resulting in a top outcome. The overall performance was excellent and fortunately, no one sustained any injuries. Everything went well.”
Klopp’s team, Liverpool, is favored to win the Europa League. However, since they are also competing for the title, there will be high expectations for them when the tournament starts again.
The manager of the Reds declined to demote Europe to a secondary goal.
He stated, “Regrettably, my profession does not allow for such choices, to be truthful.”
“I must accept whatever I am given. When we compete, it is considered the most significant competition in the world. It’s as simple as that.”
“However, our upcoming match on Sunday against Fulham in the Premier League will take precedence as the most crucial competition.”
“We aim to reach the furthest point possible in the Europa League.”
Gakpo stated that the team was committed to participating in all of the competitions they were involved in.
“We must persevere as we have ambitious objectives for this season. That’s all,” he stated to TNT Sports.
We must continue moving forward and strive to win as many games as we can. Our group has a great deal of talent and I believe that with this talent, we can achieve numerous victories.
