Joe Gomez states that being called back to England’s team after a break of three and a half years signifies the end of a tough period in his career that had taken a toll on him mentally.
The Liverpool defender has returned to the international spotlight after a strong season. He has been selected for Gareth Southgate’s final squad for Euro 2024, along with 22 other players.
During a November 2020 session with England, Gomez suffered a tendon injury to his knee, which required surgery and resulted in an eight-month period on the sidelines. This extended absence from Southgate’s squad lasted almost four years.
