On Wednesday, March 6th, the involuntary manslaughter trial for Alec Baldwin’s Rust armor specialist, Hannah Gutierrez-Reed, is expected to conclude with closing arguments.
Ms. Gutierrez-Reed is being charged with involuntary manslaughter in relation to the fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins.
Additionally, she is facing a charge of tampering with evidence.
Mr. Baldwin, who is also charged with involuntary manslaughter in a separate case, has attributed the incident to Ms. Gutierrez-Reed as the individual accountable.
Ms. Gutierrez-Reed entered a plea of not guilty for all three charges and has alleged that Baldwin was in charge of a disorganized set and disregarded safety training. She maintains that she is not ultimately responsible for the death of Ms. Hutchins.
In October 2021, during a rehearsal for a scene, Mr. Baldwin drew a replica of a Colt 45 from his holster.
A gunshot occurred and hit Hutchins, exiting her body and injuring director Joel Souza in the stomach.
Unfortunately, Ms. Hutchins passed away while Mr. Souza was able to survive.
The concluding statements were made following testimony from the movie’s weapons provider stating he did not supply real bullets to the production.
On Monday (March 4th), Seth Kenney testified in court that he only supplied inert dummy bullets to the Western film location in New Mexico.
At the time, he was managing active rounds from a different production.
