Five individuals lost their lives in a Russian missile attack that came close to hitting Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky’s motorcade.
The president was in Odesa to meet Greek prime minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, when the missile hit infrastructure close enough for the leaders to see the strike. It is estimated that the attack took place a mere 500 to 800-metre distance from the delegations.
After the attack on one of Russia’s biggest iron ore facilities, carried out by Ukrainian drones, Ukraine’s military intelligence agency took responsibility.
According to a source from Ukraine’s GUR military intelligence agency, they have claimed responsibility for the attack. In response, Ukraine has increased the use of long-range drones to target areas deep within Russia.
According to Ukrainian officials, Russia carried out a nighttime assault in Ukrainian regions on Wednesday involving 42 drones. The attack resulted in at least seven injuries.
However, according to Germany’s ambassador to the UK, there is no reason to offer an apology for the security breaches that resulted in a leaked phone call between high-ranking military personnel, which was apparently obtained by Russian sources.
