The closure of a ski company after 20 years of operation has been attributed to Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic.
Powder White, which was founded in 2003 and is based in London, is now scrambling to contact customers who have holidays booked with the company as these will no longer go ahead as planned.
The company announced that, despite their best efforts, they have unfortunately been unable to overcome the significant obstacles that have impacted the industry in recent years.
The Powder Ski website is no longer accessible and has been replaced with a brief message.
The company stated that the challenges caused by the UK’s departure from the European Union and the ongoing effects of Covid have had an immeasurable impact. Additionally, they mentioned that these difficulties have been worsened by the current cost-of-living crisis.
The company stated that this has led to our inability to meet our responsibilities and, more importantly, our cherished guests’ ski vacations.
Employees are reaching out to customers who have scheduled ski trips in a timely manner to discuss the available choices, aiming to reach everyone within the next three days.
The Independent has requested confirmation from Powder White regarding the number of impacted customers.
“We extend our gratitude to our loyal customers and suppliers for their unwavering support for the past two decades. We would also like to express our appreciation to our dedicated staff who have stood by us. We deeply apologize to all those impacted by our shortcomings.”
As reported by Ski Line, Powder White is the initial skiing company to declare bankruptcy in 2024. They have already assisted customers in rescheduling their trips.
The announcement of the sale of Inghams, one of the UK’s longest-running ski travel companies, comes just days after it was first reported.
The Swiss company Hotelplan is the owner of Inghams, and is in turn owned by the supermarket chain Migros.
