Updates on Trump's decision to miss E Jean Carroll's trial in order to attend his mother-in-law's funeral.

E Jean Carroll gives testimony against Donald Trump.

Donald Trump expressed his anger on Truth Social about E Jean Carroll’s defamation lawsuit against him, calling it a fabricated and repulsive lie. He also argued that he should be the one receiving compensation for damage to his reputation, not Carroll.

Last year, the ex-columnist for Elle magazine accused the ex-president, who is now a candidate for 2024, of sexually assaulting her in a dressing room at a department store in the mid-1990s. As a result, Mr. Trump was found responsible.

She is currently taking legal action against him once more for his refusal to acknowledge that the event occurred.

“I am present here because I was attacked by Donald Trump. When I wrote about it, he denied it ever happened. He was not telling the truth. As a result, he damaged my reputation,” Ms Carroll stated during her testimony in New York on Wednesday.

During Ms. Trump’s testimony on Wednesday, Judge Lewis Kaplan warned her that he would have to remove her from the courtroom if she continued to make comments. In response, the presidential candidate expressed bitterness, stating “I would be delighted.”

Today, Ms Carroll is testifying again, but Mr Trump is not present. He went to Florida for his mother-in-law’s funeral after briefly stopping in Portsmouth, New Hampshire for a rally appearance last night before the upcoming primary next week.

What was the White House’s response to the publishing of E Jean Carroll’s book excerpt?

The Trump Administration has released a statement regarding the allegation of assault made by E Jean Carroll.

June 21, 2019

In reference to the “story” written by E. Jean Carroll, which asserts that she had a chance encounter with me at Bergdorf Goodman 23 years ago, I would like to clarify that I have never crossed paths with this individual. It seems clear that her main intention is to promote her new book, and this should be kept in mind when considering her claims. Perhaps her book should be classified as fiction.

It is shameful for individuals to fabricate tales of assault in order to gain attention or profit from a book or political motive, as was the case with Julie Swetnick’s false accusation against Justice Brett Kavanaugh. It is equally concerning when others believe these claims without any supporting proof.

It is even worse for a failing publication to attempt to stay afloat by spreading false information- it has become widespread.

Ms. Carroll and New York magazine: Were there no photographs, no surveillance, no video, no reports, and no sales attendants present? I would like to express my gratitude to Bergdorf Goodman for verifying that there is no video evidence of the alleged incident, as it did not occur.

Making untrue allegations lessens the gravity of genuine attacks. It is imperative that we denounce both false accusations and legitimate assaults with the utmost force.

If you have any knowledge of the Democratic Party collaborating with Ms. Carroll or New York magazine, please inform us promptly. The truth must be revealed to the public. This behavior is shameful and those responsible should face consequences for their baseless allegations.

Julie Swetnick, a resident of Washington, DC, accused Supreme Court Associate Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct at a party they both attended during their high school years.

The trial for day three of E Jean Carroll resumes.

The trial for the defamation case against Donald Trump, brought by writer E Jean Carroll, has restarted in Lower Manhattan without him as he is currently at his mother-in-law’s funeral in Florida.

Ms. Carroll is currently being cross-examined by Alina Habba, the lawyer representing Mr. Trump. During yesterday’s questioning of the plaintiff, Habba had difficulty with fundamental legal procedures.

During the morning’s proceedings, Habba inquired with Ms Carroll about the five-hour time difference between the release of a portion of her book by The Cut, where she recounted being sexually assaulted by Mr Trump, and his initial comments on the matter.

Habba is claiming that Ms. Carroll was already experiencing online abuse before the former president made his statement, thus he should not be held responsible for any threats or mistreatment she may have faced.

The White House issued a statement disputing her allegations, which was also published in the excerpt.

Donald Trump has already been held accountable for defaming and sexually assaulting E. Jean Carroll.
