The urgency for a ceasefire in Rafah increases as South Africa makes an urgent plea to the UN.

Biden criticizes Israel’s handling of the situation in the Gaza Strip as excessive.

On Tuesday, South Africa stated that it has made an “emergency plea” to the UN court regarding Israel’s military actions in Rafah located in the Gaza Strip. The global demand for a ceasefire in the area is growing stronger.

The nation has requested the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to examine whether or not Israel’s actions in the southern city are a violation of the interim orders issued in the genocide case in the previous month. According to the initial decision, Israel was instructed to take all necessary measures to prevent its soldiers from committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza.

Overnight airstrikes struck Rafah, a city in the southern Gaza Strip where 1.5 million Palestinians reside. Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu directed the military to evacuate civilians before the attack, resulting in 74 casualties according to the Hamas-controlled health ministry.

Following the attack, President Joe Biden of the United States announced on Monday that he is advocating for a temporary cessation of hostilities between Israel and Hamas lasting six weeks.

President Biden, who has become more frustrated with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for disregarding his counsel, stated that the United States is collaborating with regional allies to negotiate the agreement.

The director of a Palestinian humanitarian organization expresses disappointment towards narrow-minded demands for shutdown.

On Tuesday, the leader of UNRWA expressed that the suggestion to dismantle the organization was narrow-minded. They stated that ending the agency’s responsibility of offering vital aid to Palestinian refugees would only worsen the already dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.

Multiple countries, such as the UK, US, Japan, and Germany, pulled their funding from the organization following accusations from an Israeli intelligence report claiming that approximately 200 UNRWA employees are affiliated with Hamas or Islamic Jihad.

“I have discussed with the member states the requests to dissolve and terminate UNRWA. I have expressed concern about the consequences and stated that these requests are lacking foresight,” stated Philippe Lazzarini, head of UNRWA, following a meeting with member states at the United Nations in Geneva.

Three individuals were convicted of committing acts of terror after they were found to be displaying images of paragliders during a pro-Palestine demonstration.

Three individuals were convicted of a terror-related offense at Westminster Magistrates’ Court for exhibiting pictures of paragliders during a pro-Palestine demonstration in central London, just one week following an attack by Hamas militants on Israel.

Deputy Senior District Judge Tan Ikram delivered his judgment, stating that a week prior, Hamas had entered Israel using paragliders, as reported by the media. A rational individual would have been aware of this information.

I do not believe that a rational person would see the image only as a representation of freedom.

I want to clarify that there is no proof that any of these individuals are followers of Hamas or were trying to express support for them.

The nation of South Africa has requested for the World Court to evaluate the actions of Israel in their attack on Rafah.

On Tuesday, South Africa announced that it had requested the World Court to assess whether Israel’s proposal to expand its attack in Gaza to include Rafah necessitates extra urgent actions to safeguard the rights of Palestinians.

In a recent ruling, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) has directed Israel to take all necessary actions to prevent its soldiers from committing genocide against Palestinians in Gaza. This decision was made in response to a case brought forth by South Africa.

Israel has announced its intention to extend its ground attack to Rafah, where more than 1 million Palestinians have taken shelter from the ongoing offensive that has caused extensive damage to the Gaza Strip since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7th.

The South African government expressed deep worry in a court filing on Feb. 12 about the State of Israel’s declaration of an unprecedented military attack on Rafah. They stated that this action has already caused and will continue to cause significant loss of life, harm, and destruction. This statement was released by the presidency of South Africa.

A candidate for the Labour party has apologized for making an erroneous statement about Israel’s involvement in the October attack.

The Labour candidate for Rochdale, Azhar Ali, has apologised after he reportedly said Israel had been warned about the 7 October attack and allowed it to happen.

The Labour Party released a statement on behalf of the candidate following the Mail on Sunday’s publication of comments from a recorded conversation in which he stated that Israel had been given prior warning of the attack, but chose to remove their security deliberately.

According to reports, Mr Ali claimed that the Egyptians had given a warning to Israel 10 days beforehand. He also stated that the Americans had warned Israel the day before, but they still chose to remove security measures, resulting in the tragic event that gave them the freedom to do as they pleased.

Egypt is considering revoking a long-standing peace agreement with Israel – what are the potential implications?

The two statesmen, unlikely as they were, shared a warm handshake while President Jimmy Carter looked on with a smile.

Sunlight streamed through the trees at Camp David, Maryland, as Egyptian President Anwar Sadat and Israeli Prime Minister Menachem Begin solidified a landmark agreement that has allowed over 40 years of peace between Israel and Egypt. It has served as an important source of stability in a volatile region.

The agreement has maintained peace during two Palestinian uprisings and multiple conflicts between Israel and Hamas. However, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s pledge to deploy Israeli troops in Rafah, a Gaza city on the Egyptian border, the Egyptian government is considering nullifying the agreement.
