Updates continue to come in as the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine escalates, with Russian leader Vladimir Putin initiating a significant drone assault on the Ukrainian city of Kyiv.

The newly appointed foreign secretary, David Cameron, has a meeting with Zelensky.

The Ukrainian air force reported that Russia carried out a major kamikaze drone strike on Ukraine, using around 100 Iranian-made drones. As a result, civilians were forced to seek safety in bomb shelters for the majority of the night.

During the early hours of Saturday, a capital city, Kyiv, was the main target of an attack. Numerous Russian kamikaze drones were observed flying above the city for about six hours until several were stopped by Ukrainian air defense systems.

It was the most significant attack since May this year, in which residents were targeted at least 15 times in a month. Last winter, Russia launched a brutal campaign targeting critical infrastructure across Ukraine for several months.

The mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, reported that two people were injured in the attacks that occurred overnight and targeted at least three districts of the city.

The UK’s Ministry of Defence has stated that Ukraine’s precise long-range attacks have caused significant casualties among Vladimir Putin’s troops, even reaching behind Russia’s frontline.

The Russian Ministry of Defense is facing a difficult decision due to the lack of rotation among frontline troops. They must choose between keeping soldiers spread out for safety or gathering them in groups to improve morale. This dilemma was highlighted by two recent strikes in Russian-held territory that resulted in numerous casualties.
