The Labour party claims that England is at risk of a “lost generation of children” due to the Conservative party’s lack of action in addressing ongoing school absences, as stated in the King’s Speech.
The Opposition plans to utilize parliamentary discussions on the Government’s proposed laws to highlight the pressing need for action against a “crisis” of low attendance.
According to data from the Department for Education, a party analysis found that the number of children consistently absent during both the autumn and spring terms this year has exceeded 1.5 million. This is nearly twice as high as the number from five years ago.
A student is considered consistently absent if they miss 10% or more of their classes.
Rishi Sunak has proposed 20 bills and one draft bill for the upcoming parliamentary session. Some of these bills are carry-overs from the previous session and will be finalized in the next session.
Revised legislation for ventures involving oil and gas in the North Sea, aimed at creating a clear distinction from the Labour party, and a collection of criminal justice ideas were included in the bundle.
The suggested law requiring yearly oil and gas licenses presents a difficulty for the opposing party, who has declared they would prohibit new exploration licenses in order to prioritize renewable energy if they gain control.

A source from the Conservative Party responded by accusing Labour of endangering children’s education by pledging to revoke laws that require minimum service levels during strikes.
They stated that they have made ongoing efforts to ensure that children have come back to the classroom and have stayed there, allowing them to receive the education they deserve. This also helps to improve their abilities, ultimately benefiting our economy.
The Conservative Government has seen an improvement in England’s ranking for English and Maths, with primary school students now being the top readers in the western world. However, Wales, under Labour leadership, has not been successful in providing a high-quality education, as students are achieving lower results in English and Maths.
