During a press conference on Thursday addressing accusations about his declining memory, President Joe Biden mistakenly mentioned Mexico instead of Egypt.
The president mentioned the ongoing dispute in the Middle East, stating: “The president of Mexico initially refused to open the gate for humanitarian aid. However, after speaking with him, I was able to persuade him to do so.”
I have been in communication with Bibi (Benjamin Netenyahu) to facilitate the opening of the gate on the Israeli side. I have been working diligently and persistently to ensure that humanitarian aid can enter Gaza.
We must put an end to the suffering and death of innocent people due to starvation and other troubles. That should be our top priority.
“I am the individual who proposed the idea that we must make a greater effort to increase the quantity of materials being brought in, such as fuel and other items. I have already spoken with Qataris and Egyptians on the matter.”
The recent blunder occurred when Mr. Biden responded to a Republican prosecutor’s accusation that his memory is unreliable, at a last-minute and occasionally disorganized press conference.
In a report by Special Counsel Robert Hur, released on Thursday, there was a mention that the president may not have recalled the year his late son, Beau Biden, passed away from brain cancer. “How dare he bring that up?” Mr. Biden exclaimed.
Nonetheless, Mr. Biden was not the only one to make a regrettable error regarding the Middle East, as highlighted by Democratic Representative Jared Moskowitz.
During a recent appearance on Meet the Press, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson seemed to mistake Iran for Israel. He stated, “I want to clarify that we approved support for Iran several months ago. As soon as I became Speaker, we allocated the necessary resources there.”
“Ironically, there is a mention of bad memory. Allow me to assist. Iran: Negative. Israel: Positive,” Mr Moskowitz stated.
