After winning Republican primary elections in 11 states on Super Tuesday, Donald Trump proclaimed his triumph from the stage of his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.
In a rambling 20-minute address loaded with false claims and familiar grievances, the frontrunner for the GOP’s nominee to face Democratic president Joe Biden in November’s general election called US elections “third-world”.
One person stated that in certain aspects, our country can be compared to a developing nation. This can be seen at both our borders and during our elections. It is imperative that we address and put an end to this issue.
The ex-president has continued to push a untrue story that the 2020 election was unfairly taken from him and manipulated, and his exaggerated statements – spanning over ten years – have fueled baseless legal challenges and Republican efforts to dispute the outcome and create laws to achieve what Mr. Trump couldn’t in the legal system.
As of now, Mr. Trump has emerged victorious in all of the 2024 Republican primary elections, while his main rival within the GOP, Nikki Haley, has secured victories in the primaries of Vermont and Washington DC.
On Tuesday evening, Mr. Trump stated to his followers that November 5 will be remembered as the most significant day in our nation’s history. He believes that winning this election is crucial because there is no alternative. Losing would result in the loss of our entire country.
Mr Trump didn’t mention Ms Haley in his remarks, but he predicted imminent “unity” within the Republican Party, “and it’s going to happen very quickly,” he said.
His relatively brief victory speech veered across familiar targets and warned the country was “dying” as he promoted anti-immigrant rhetoric that falsely claimed migrants from the US-Mexico border are invading US cities with “migrant crime”.
“We will need to remove a large number of individuals. Many of them are dangerous,” he declared. “We cannot continue to function as a country under these conditions. Our cities are suffocating. Our states are withering. And ultimately our nation is deteriorating.”

This is an ongoing narrative.
