Due to a series of health issues within the royal family, it has become more evident that King Charles has a strong bond with his “dear daughter-in-law”.
Because they have both been diagnosed with cancer that is not specified, the two highest-ranking members of the royal family have commenced their individual forms of treatment and are offering each other support while they temporarily step back from their official duties to focus on recovering.
On Thursday, it was reported that Charles had traveled to Windsor Castle to have lunch with Kate, just one day before she revealed she had been diagnosed with the illness.
The pair supposedly talked about her upcoming announcement, leaving the King feeling “very emotional”.
According to a source, they are extremely close and he sees Catherine as his own daughter. It is clear that they have a strong bond and can rely on each other for support as they individually battle with cancer on a personal level.
In January, both of them visited The London Clinic, a private hospital in Marylebone. Reports say that Charles was seen walking from his hospital bed to spend time with Kate, who had just undergone significant abdominal surgery.
The 75-year-old king was undergoing treatment for a larger than normal prostate. Last month, he disclosed that doctors had found cancer during the treatment.
In contrast, he has had limited exposure to the public as the princess has dealt with persistent accusations and questionable theories. This escalated after a photo of the Wales family was discovered to have been edited, leading Kate to issue an apology on social media.
After making a heartfelt address to the public on Friday night, in which she shared that she had started receiving preventive chemotherapy, the King released a statement expressing his love and support for her.
The Buckingham Palace issued a brief statement expressing His Majesty’s pride in Catherine for her bravery in her words.
After spending time in the hospital together, HM has maintained a close relationship with his daughter-in-law during the past few weeks. Both their Majesties will provide love and support to the entire family during this challenging period.
A reliable insider to Charles revealed to The Sunday Times: “The King and the princess have always shared a special bond with each other. She greatly admires and honors his role and holds a deep affection for him.”
While they were both in the hospital, they would often walk down the hallway together to visit and spend time with her. He has consistently shown encouragement and support towards her.
Although the royals typically do not attend many events together, it has been reported that Kate and her father-in-law have maintained a strong bond for several years. Photos from the 2021 debut of the 24th James Bond movie “No Time To Die” show the two having a joyful time and sharing laughter on the red carpet.
During an interview announcing their engagement, Kate shared that Charles was extremely welcoming and friendly when she first met the family. She confessed to feeling nervous about meeting the then-Prince of Wales, but remarked that it ended up being a smooth and easy experience for her.
After being diagnosed with cancer, the King has made only a few public appearances but has remained focused on managing state matters and meeting with private individuals. His wife, Queen Camilla, shared with supporters that he is in good health, and there are reports that he intends to attend the customary Easter service.
In her video message, the princess revealed that her personal diagnosis was a “surprising and overwhelming” moment for her. However, she shared that with the help of her spouse and healthcare professionals, she is improving day by day.
After months of rumors, the couple has asked for privacy and it is unlikely that Kate will resume her royal responsibilities anytime soon.
