In the past, Passengers Behaving Badly was typically associated with bachelor parties consuming excessive amounts of Jägermeister on a cheap flight to Prague. However, nowadays, the list of misbehaviors by travelers on flights continues to expand.
The most recent individuals implicated in this incident are Robert F Kennedy Jr., a candidate for president, who has been accused of engaging in “disgusting” conduct by walking to the bathroom on a plane without wearing shoes.
Ten years ago, inappropriate behavior may have only been evaluated by other passengers on a flight. However, in today’s society, these transgressions can be captured in a photo or video, posted online, and spread across social media platforms for the entire internet to see.
Except for the most serious violations, such as becoming intoxicated and instigating physical altercations or making racist remarks, or even attacking flight attendants, there are many instances of travelers exhibiting questionable conduct that may not result in their removal from a flight, but will surely anger their fellow passengers who are unfortunate enough to share the aircraft cabin with them.
After observing numerous horrific human rights violations during air travel and witnessing numerous shocking incidents that have made news headlines in recent years, we have compiled a definitive list of behaviors that are likely to result in your removal from a flight.
Repeatedly experiencing long-haired passengers placing their hair over the back of the seat is irritating behavior, especially when it happens multiple times during the same trip. I have encountered this situation numerous times and there is only so much I can do to move the hair out of the way. During one flight, blonde strands were dangerously close to my congealed chicken and potato dinner before I had to awkwardly speak up. Both parties mumbled apologies, likely due to British politeness, but as soon as the trays were cleared, Rapunzel let down her hair again. It’s not enjoyable to watch movies with a stranger’s hair in the way.
American politician Robert F Kennedy Jr sparked controversy when he entered an airplane bathroom without wearing shoes.
Mr. Kennedy, the nephew of former US President John F. Kennedy, has announced his candidacy as an independent for the 2024 US presidential race. He initially declared as a Democrat but has since changed his party affiliation. He is currently polling higher than any independent or third-party candidate in recent history. However, his actions during a flight, where he walked around without shoes, have garnered attention on social media.
Justin Haskins, an executive editor at The Heartland Institute and editor-in-chief of StoppingSocialism.com, proudly shared about his recent luxurious flight experience where he sat behind a man he believed to be Mr. Kennedy.
As he was walking to the bathroom, I noticed that the man was barefoot and without socks. Additionally, I noticed that the floor was covered with unappealing food. He shared, “It was a disgusting sight.”
“He goes into the restroom sockless and shoeless. Something I’ve literally never seen in my entire life. Absolutely disgusting, right?” Mr Haskins continued, showing the picture he took of Mr Kennedy walking barefoot. “This guy’s a presidential candidate, you know he doesn’t wear shoes and socks in a plane in first class, like what is this?”
During a trip with my female friends to Croatia, we ended up sitting together on the plane after paying extra for assigned seats due to Ryanair’s random seating. Unfortunately, we were in front of a row of young children who were constantly kicking the back of our seats. Despite gentle attempts from their mother to stop them, they continued their actions for the entire two-hour and 20-minute flight. To cope, we resorted to buying and consuming a large amount of mini sauvignon blancs from the refreshments trolley. I spent the whole flight mentally cursing the ringleader, “Selwyn,” and his group of kickers. Our dismay was only amplified when we returned to Zadar Airport at the end of our enjoyable week in the sun. We had to wait an hour to check our bags and go through security, only to be met with Selwyn screaming and eager to continue his disruptive behavior on the flight back home. Natalie Wilson
A woman was publicly criticized for painting her nails during a flight. Another passenger captured a photo of the unidentified traveler painting her fingernails and also accused her of bringing her own beer on the plane.
Aviation journalist JT Genter recently posted a photo on Twitter/X of a woman painting her nails with nude polish.
“Nail polish users: I kindly ask that you refrain from applying nail polish in confined areas with large groups of people, where the air is being recycled. Some individuals may have a heightened sensitivity to the toxic fumes. Additionally, please be aware that bringing your own alcoholic beverages on board is prohibited by law.”
In December of 2022, a video of a man trying to light a cigarette on a flight with American Airlines gained popularity when another passenger posted it on the internet. Sara Radosevich shared the incident on Twitter while on an American Airlines flight on December 6th, after observing the man attempting to smoke during the flight.
In the video, the man seated a few seats away from her can be seen taking out a lighter and smoking a cigarette before the clip ends.
Radosevich commented: “This individual lit a cigarette during the flight. Thank you, American Airlines, for having a flight attendant who took it away from him.”
In October, easyJet had to cancel a flight when a passenger defecated on the floor of the toilet. Angry passengers were stranded in Tenerife for an extra night while the flight to London Gatwick was rescheduled.
A Twitter/X video captured the pilot’s announcement of the flight cancellation. The recording begins with the pilot mentioning that someone had found it amusing to use the front toilet as a defecation spot, resulting in an overnight stay at the current location.
He announces, “We will now work on getting everyone off the plane and arranging hotel accommodations. We will then fly back tomorrow morning.” The passengers let out a collective groan.
