The city of Kyiv experienced its biggest drone assault by Russia, resulting in five injuries.

According to Volodymyr Zelensky, Ukrainian intelligence has observed a significant decrease in activity within Russia’s military-industrial complex, nearly two years after Vladimir Putin’s large-scale invasion.

In his regular evening speech, the president of Ukraine referenced a report from HUR, the nation’s military intelligence organization. He stated, “There are indications that the enemy’s strategies and the efforts of the Russian defense industry are losing momentum. We will actively contribute to further slowing them down.”

Ukraine’s air force reported successfully intercepting and disabling a large-scale drone attack from Russia, bringing down 34 out of 35 Iranian drones.

A total of 12 regions in Ukraine were targeted by multiple waves of drones over a span of seven hours starting at 8pm.

However, only one was able to penetrate the air force’s defenses.

A drone strike on a block of flats in the Solomyanskyi district of Kyiv caused a massive orange flame to erupt into the night sky, as seen in a video shared on social media.

Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of the city, reported that fragments from a drone caused a fire at a building under construction in the Darnytskyi district, located on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River which runs through the city.

Next year, Ukraine may request that male citizens residing outside the country join the army.

The defense minister of the war-torn country stated on Thursday that Ukrainian men living abroad who are capable of serving in the military should come back to join the armed forces next year. He also mentioned that consequences may be implemented for those who do not comply with this call.

This marks a major change in Ukraine’s approach to enlistment, occurring 22 months following the Russian invasion. It comes after Volodymyr Zelensky announced that the military requested up to 500,000 additional personnel in 2024, but a decision on drafting has not been reached yet.

Umerov stated that Ukrainian males residing in foreign countries would initially receive a “invitation” to report to recruitment centers. However, he also mentioned that action would be taken if they refused to comply voluntarily.

The Russian government announced on Friday that they are working on enhancing their immigration system, following concerns from the leader of the Orthodox Church regarding the preservation of the nation’s identity.

The Kremlin’s spokesperson emphasized the significance of migration and revealed that a set of guidelines is being developed to enhance the current system.

The majority of immigration to Russia originates from Central Asian countries that were formerly part of the Soviet Union.

The situation is sensitive for the Russian government as numerous businesses are facing difficulties in finding qualified employees due to the large number of Russian citizens who left the country after the conflict in Ukraine began, which Moscow refers to as a “special military operation.”
