A man has been apprehended by the Australian authorities after a string of stabbings occurred on Saturday evening, resulting in injuries to five individuals, including a British citizen, in Melbourne.
According to a statement from Victoria Police, a male individual, 31, from Melton, has been arrested and charged for allegedly stabbing five individuals in four unprovoked attacks that occurred within a span of three hours.
A 24-year-old individual was attacked with a knife outside a burger shop at approximately 10pm in the evening. They were transported to the hospital for treatment of a leg injury that was not life-threatening.
Video from the burger restaurant’s security camera captures a male individual wearing a light green jacket running along King Street in Melbourne. The man then stabs a male pedestrian in the leg with a knife.
According to authorities, this was the first of four unprovoked stabbing incidents.
According to local news, Margi Patel, the owner of the burger shop, stated that her staff at the establishment offered towels, water, and napkins to the injured individual. Bystanders also quickly came to his assistance.
“After last night, my perspective shifted a bit,” Ms Patel shared with NCA NewsWire. She added that she usually never feels unsafe.

A British citizen was stabbed on Acland Street in a third occurrence and was transported to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries to their leg.
According to authorities, the assailant utilized a variety of knives in each assault and approached unsuspecting victims from behind. The incidents were described by police as a string of “cowardly” attacks.
