Taylor Swift has demonstrated her ability to overcome any obstacle, even an unintended wardrobe malfunction during a performance.
The recipient of a Grammy award performed in Rio de Janeiro on Monday, November 20th as part of her Eras Tour in South America. In a video shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, Swift paused during the applause to fix her sparkly boots.
However, during her performance, the heel of a custom Christian Louboutin boot broke off. Undeterred, the “Shake It Off” artist chose to remove the other heel and continue the show with only one functional shoe. She exclaimed to the audience, “You’re making me feel incredible right now!” following the incident.
Another fan video perfectly captured how Swift carried on with her Eras Tour concert, despite her broken heel. The “Bad Blood” singer instantly channelled Margot Robbie’s Barbie when she perfectly arched her foot without any heel support. “She stands on tiptoe, with a broken heel, like a real-life Barbie,” wrote one user on X, comparing Swift’s wardrobe malfunction to a scene from Greta Gerwig’s Barbie.
“I don’t think Taylor Swift will ever shake off the comparisons to a real-life Barbie,” commented one fan, while another wrote: “Taylor Swift embodies the image of a real-life Barbie.”
Swift’s eye-catching crystal Louboutin boots have been a signature fashion staple in the Eras Tour since it kicked off in Arizona last March. The heels – which she wears during the “Lover” portion of the concert – are available in “both custom and existing silhouettes in a variety of shapes and heights,” the luxury brand’s website states.
As reported by Business Insider, the boots are priced at a minimum of $1,195.
After the concert, a fortunate fan shared that they were able to acquire the fragment of Taylor Swift’s heel that had snapped off during the Monday night performance. They captured a photo of the broken red heel stored in a small checkered bag, which was then reposted on X by the fan page @tswifterastour. “A fan who was able to retrieve Taylor Swift’s broken heel shares an exclusive image from tonight’s show in Rio de Janeiro!” they wrote alongside the picture.
This is not the initial occurrence of Swift overcoming a wardrobe malfunction during a performance. In April, while on stage at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, she discovered that her shiny, purple garter had snapped. While singing her popular song “Anti-Hero”, Swift approached her backup singers and drew attention to the broken garter. Once her team repaired the wardrobe mishap by securing the garter to her leg, Swift proceeded with the rest of the performance.
According to reports, Swift’s plans to attend her rumored boyfriend Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs game against the Philadelphia Eagles in Missouri on Monday were cancelled. This was due to both the oppressive heat and the heartbreaking passing of a fan at her concert in Rio De Janeiro on November 17th, Ana Clara Benevides Machado. As a result, Swift had to reschedule her Saturday show for Monday.
