The fixtures for Fantasy Premier League’s 27th gameweek have concluded, with Arsenal’s victory over Sheffield United on Monday night. Now, all attention turns to GW28 and the highly-anticipated Premier League clash between Liverpool and Man City for the title.
The top team’s game is very interesting, but it may cause FPL managers to think carefully about who to include. Therefore, we will be focusing on teams other than the top two for our five transfer tips this week.
Antoine Semenyo – Bournemouth, forward, 4.5m
After earning four points in their recent three games, Bournemouth seems to have secured their place in the next season. Next up, they will play Sheffield United at home and can secure their position for sure. As it is a double gameweek for them, with a home match against Luton afterwards, it would be wise to select a Bournemouth player for your team in order to gain extra points.
The most popular option for teams is currently Dominic Solanke, but 24% of teams already have him. However, there is another option available. Antoine Semenyo is performing well, with two goals in the last three games and three shots in the previous game. He has played the full 90 minutes in their last two games on the right wing. He is a strong presence in the box and is also a threat in the air, plus he comes at a low price.
Gabriel is a defender for Arsenal, with a value of 5.3 million.
Unfortunately, Brentford has only managed to score a total of 13 goals in 15 away games this season. They were also unable to score against Man City in their recent match, as well as against Sheffield United. While Ivan Toney has returned to the team, Arsenal currently holds the best defensive record in the Premier League this season and will likely feel confident in their ability to defend against Brentford.
Both centre-back options are solid choices, but William Saliba has already been selected by far more teams at a 12 percentage point advantage. Additionally, Gabriel is priced 0.5m lower. Despite only an eight point difference between them, the slight savings in cost make Gabriel a better selection – as demonstrated by his clean sheet during Monday’s match. Thus, we will choose the Brazilian player.
Thomas Kaminski is a goalkeeper for Luton, with a value of 4.5 million.
While it’s not typical for us to suggest goalkeepers from teams facing relegation, there is a unique opportunity here. Luton has a double gameweek 28 and will also face Nottingham Forest at home during gameweek 29. This will be one of only eight clubs playing during that week.
Before facing Crystal Palace and Bournemouth, Luton has three chances to achieve a crucial shutout and improve their chances of survival against opponents who struggle to score at times. While there is no guarantee, considering Luton’s history of conceding, it could be a wise decision to temporarily switch to Kaminski as a backup goalkeeper if your main choice is facing a difficult opponent now and has no game next time.
Bruno Fernandes – Man United, midfielder, 8.2m
It is likely that Manchester United will revert to using a forward against Everton in their next match, following Bruno Fernandes’ time as a “false nine”. Although he may continue in that position, the fact that Marcus Rashford is back to scoring goals makes him a compelling alternative. However, considering his slightly higher value and lower points tally this season, it is not a risk that we are willing to take.
Fernandes continues to take penalties and contributed an assist in the recent Manchester derby. With Rasmus Hojlund unavailable, there’s a good chance Fernandes will start in the attack once again. Despite Manchester United’s poor attacking performance and inconsistency, it may be wise to support Fernandes in hopes of boosting your FPL points, if not their Premier League standing.
Mohammed Kudus – West Ham, midfielder, 6.8m
As West Ham starts performing well again, Kudus is also earning points for the team. In the past two games, the Ghanaian player has provided an assist and took ten shots, indicating a potential return to scoring soon as the team continues to have a successful run.
The team will also be playing in GW29, which is an additional advantage. However, their first match will be against a poorly performing Burnley team at home. Kudus is a superior player compared to their opponents and it would not be unexpected to see him make a contribution to the scoresheet once more.
