A company offering diving expeditions in the Bahamas is conducting an internal inquiry following a shark attack on a 10-year-old boy.
Stuart Cove’s Blue Adventures was conducting a shark tank excursion at a nearby resort on Paradise Island when the young boy was attacked by a shark.
The statement from Stuart Cove of Blue Adventures stated that his company is working with the police and has temporarily suspended the diving experience.
According to him, occurrences such as this one where there is contact with sea creatures, even with the specific type of sharks involved in this event, are not common and should never be tolerated.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force reported that a boy from Maryland, whose identity remains unknown, was bitten on his right leg on Monday. He was transported to a hospital for medical care.
According to authorities, he was flown to Maryland and is currently in stable but critical condition.
According to Mr. Cove, a diving instructor and guide were present in the water during the shark attack and promptly administered medical aid.
“We are greatly saddened by the news that a child was bitten by a shark during an aquatic activity on Monday,” he stated.
He stated that this is the initial occurrence of its nature since the start of operations in 2006.
