Eni Aluko, a football commentator, shared that due to online abuse she has received after Joey Barton’s social media insults, she has been afraid to venture outside her home.
Barton compared former England footballer and ITV pundit Lucy Ward to notorious serial killers Fred and Rose West after Crystal Palace’s FA Cup game against Everton earlier this month.
“I was genuinely scared this week and didn’t leave my house until Friday. Now I’m abroad.”
She also cautioned about the risks of cyberbullying and the detrimental effects it can have on individuals’ psychological well-being.
