According to reports, Donald Trump is worried that certain conservative judges on the Supreme Court, half of whom he appointed, may rule against him. This comes after he was disqualified from the ballots in multiple states due to the 14th Amendment’s prohibition on insurrectionists holding public office.
According to The New York Times, advisers to Mr. Trump are preparing to submit challenges on Tuesday to the recent rulings in Colorado and Maine.
Donald Trump was excluded from the GOP primary ballots due to his involvement in the January 6th, 2021 insurrection at the Capitol.
The team supporting Trump plans to submit a legal objection in a Maine court against the secretary of state’s ruling to prevent Trump from being listed on the ballot. Similarly, the decision made by the Colorado Supreme Court to disqualify Trump will be disputed in the US Supreme Court.
In the event that she becomes president, Nikki Haley has stated that she would grant clemency to Mr. Trump should he be found guilty of any offenses.

Michael Cohen, the former lawyer and “fixer” for Donald Trump, allegedly utilized Google Bard, an AI program, to fabricate legal references for his attorney, as stated in recently released legal documents.
The fabricated references were used in a legal document submitted to a federal judge in Manhattan, in an attempt to request an early termination of Michael Cohen’s court-mandated supervision. This was after he had been released from prison for his involvement in campaign finance violations, which he had admitted to in 2018.
Cohen stated in a legally binding statement, publicly revealed on Friday (December 29th), that he was not aware of the changing patterns and potential dangers in legal technology. He also did not recognize that Google Bard was a text generation tool, similar to ChatGPT, which could display seemingly legitimate citations and descriptions that were actually not authentic.
He also stated that he was unaware that his lawyer, David Schwartz, would submit the cases without verifying their existence.
The outcome for Trump will be determined by the voters, not by the legal system.

For the second time in as many weeks, a state disqualified former president Donald Trump from the 2024 ballot. A week after Colorado disqualified Mr Trump from the 2024 Republican primary ballot, Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows said in a filing that Mr Trump was disqualified because he contributed to the January 6 riot at the US Capitol.
These actions are unprecedented, but similarly to Mr Trump’s presidency, his decision to not participate in a peaceful transfer of power was also unprecedented.
It is unlikely that Mr. Trump would secure a victory in Colorado or Maine during the general election of November 2024. In the 2020 election, Colorado voted for President Joe Biden with a significant lead, while Maine also favored Mr. Biden with a nine-point margin. Furthermore, neither of these states are included in the four initial primary contests: Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, and Nevada.
This indicates that even if the Supreme Court were to take prompt action, the Republican primary would probably have already been determined.

The plan known as the “fake electors” scheme revolved around the idea that US presidents are not chosen directly by the citizens, but rather by 538 “electors” appointed by their respective states based on the election results.
The team of Mr. Trump reportedly used pressure tactics to persuade state legislators to disregard the official vote and select their own electors unilaterally. When this approach was unsuccessful, they formed their own group of electors without any legal authority and encouraged Vice President Mike Pence to accept their decision instead of the legitimate electors.
Newly released audio recordings of Mr. Chesebro’s testimony, obtained by CNN, indicate that Mr. Trump’s team made the effort to transport falsified electoral paperwork across the nation in order to present it to Mr. Pence prior to the certification of the election results.
