Four off-duty Metropolitan Police officers who were allegedly involved in a fight in central London are now restricted from their regular duties.
At around 11pm on Friday, December 1st, authorities were contacted about a fight occurring on the Golden Jubilee Bridges and near the Royal Festival Hall, in the vicinity of the South Bank.
The Metropolitan Police stated that they are currently looking into the event and have placed four officers on limited duties. No individuals have been taken into custody.
The police stated their desire to receive information from those involved in the altercation and are particularly interested in speaking with a group of Romanian men who may have additional details about the incident.
The Metropolitan Police has submitted a report to the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which serves as a police oversight body.
Detective Inspector Nicholas Goldwater stated that the CID team is collaborating with the Directorate of Professional Standards in order to determine the details of the event, which resulted in multiple calls being made to the police on that evening.
We are currently investigating all potential leads to determine the events that occurred. This includes reviewing a significant amount of CCTV recordings. These investigations are extensive and still in progress.
“We are seeking input from anyone who was involved, including a group of men with presumed Romanian ancestry, who may have knowledge about the event.”
