After a hundred years, Paris is getting ready to hold the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games. The process has been long and steady, with preparations starting years in advance. As France nears the end of its preparations, the final obstacles must be overcome before the Olympic torch departs from Marseille on May 8th, 2024.
The 2024 Summer Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11, with the Paralympics starting on August 28 and ending on September 8. The excitement for the Olympics is growing throughout the country, as events are planned not only in Metropolitan France but also in overseas territories, such as Teahupo’o, Tahiti, where the surfing competition will be held. However, most of the events will be held in the beautiful city of Paris.
Paris, already a top destination for international tourists, will be even busier during the Olympics as it accommodates the influx of visitors in its beautiful Hausmann buildings. Prepare for your trip like an Olympic athlete by planning and training carefully. If you still need tickets for an event, check out The Independent’s useful guide.
Do you already have a golden ticket? To prevent having to share a bed with three friends like Charlie Bucket’s grandparents during the Olympics, make sure to book your lodging in advance. Here are twelve excellent options that have been carefully chosen for their close proximity to the event venues.
Located only 23 minutes away by metro from the previously mentioned Stade de France, the 4-star MOB House offers a refreshing contrast to the bustling city of Paris. This urban-chic hotel is situated in a former warehouse and boasts a spacious terrace and swimming pool, as well as regular DJ sets and an organic bar-restaurant. The 100 rooms, featuring minimalist decor with beige furnishings and light wood, feel like staying at a friend’s house with impeccable taste. It provides a peaceful escape from the vibrant and chaotic atmosphere of Paris’s largest flea market, Saint Ouen, which is conveniently located right outside your door.
At this location, Hemingway and his friends would have socialized while enjoying one of the many cocktails offered on the very large bar menu.
