Trent Alexander-Arnold, a defender for Liverpool, aspires for his idea of providing job opportunities for academy players who do not make it as professional footballers to spark a larger discussion.
At the age of 25, this individual achieved a rare accomplishment and launched The After Academy platform. The goal of this platform is to equip young people who do not have the same opportunities with the necessary resources to excel in various careers.
One aspect of this initiative is a job listing platform, located on the Professional Footballers’ Association’s website, which will only feature job opportunities for former academy players. The hiring process will prioritize showcasing transferable skills acquired at academies rather than traditional qualifications.
The England international expressed great enthusiasm for the launch of The After Academy platform.
”
“I have collaborated with my partners for several months to develop a program that not only prepares former academy players with essential skills for their future success, but also provides opportunities for their first job after retiring from playing.”
I have strong confidence that this platform will have a positive impact on people’s lives. I also hope that it sparks a larger discussion on how we can improve support for those players who do not succeed.
Positions from popular companies such as Liverpool, Red Bull, Adidas, Versus, Therabody, N3XT Sports, the PFA, Hugo Boss, and Status will be consistently included on the platform.
The PFA’s chief executive, Maheta Molango, praised Trent for utilizing his platform and influence to promote positivity within the sport.
“We are honored to be a part of this and eagerly anticipate collaborating with The After Academy partners to assist youth in advancing their careers.”
