The Africa Cup of Nations has returned, with Ivory Coast serving as the host for the second time in the tournament’s history.
Senegal, with top players such as Sadio Mane, Edouard Mendy, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Nicolas Jackson, have been declared the favorites for the Afcon tournament among the 24 participating nations.
However, the current title holders will be met with tough competition for the championship from the squad they defeated in a penalty shoot-out during the finals three years ago, which includes Mohamed Salah’s Egypt, as well as Morocco, Algeria, Nigeria, Cameroon, and the hosting country Ivory Coast.
The Afcon 2023 tournament has been declared official, even though it will be held in 2024. This change was made due to concerns about the intense summer heat in Senegal, resulting in a delay of several months.
