The 2023 Fifa Best Awards will be held in London on Monday evening, where the winners for the top male and female players of last season will be announced.
Fifa’s Best Awards are similar to the Ballon d’Or and in the previous year, Lionel Messi was named the top men’s player for leading Argentina to victory in the World Cup in Qatar. Meanwhile, Alexia Putellas, a player for Barcelona and Spain, was recognized as the best women’s player.
Once again, Messi has been named one of the top three contenders for the men’s award. He is accompanied by Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and PSG’s Kylian Mbappe from France.
Aitana Bonmati, a member of the Spanish national team that won the Women’s World Cup, is the top contender for the women’s award. She is accompanied on the list by her Barcelona teammate Jenni Hermoso and Real Madrid’s Linda Caicedo.
The time frame for evaluating achievements for the men’s awards is from December 19, 2022 to August 20, 2023, excluding the 2022 World Cup. For women’s awards, the period is from August 1, 2022 to August 20, 2023.
At the upcoming London ceremony, various accolades will be presented, including awards for the top male and female goalkeepers, coaches, and the best goal as determined by the Puskas Award. The Fifa fair play award and the Fifa fan award will also be given out. Here is all the information you need to know.
