Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has rejected the idea of achieving another treble and is almost certain that it will not occur.
The top team is predicted to win their fourth consecutive Premier League title and is also highly likely to hold onto their spot in the Champions League and FA Cup.
Guardiola believes it is unlikely to win consecutive trophies, which would be a first, given his recent success in earning trophies such as the European Super Cup and Club World Cup.
During a press conference, the Spaniard stated, “A sextuple or a seventuple? It’s like a fairytale. It’s not that simple.”
There is a 99.99% likelihood that we will not achieve the treble, as it has never been accomplished before. The probability of repeating such a feat is extremely low (indicates small gap between thumb and index finger).
“If it were simple, another team, such as (Manchester) United at the time, would have achieved it again. However, it is not a simple task.”
This industry presents many challenges. Our previous accomplishments do not ensure future success.
I appreciate that we are still in the game. We are performing well in the league and other competitions.
“Hopefully, our team will maintain the same level of determination in March and April, and if we do, we will strive for victory in May. That is our goal.”
City has emerged victorious in their previous nine matches across all competitions and seem to be building up a familiar momentum just in time.
Although Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez have received recognition for their performance, and both Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne have recovered from injuries, Jack Grealish has experienced a decline in his performance.
The English player was a crucial member of the team during last season’s triumphant campaign, but has not performed at the same level this year and has been absent from City’s starting line-up for the past four games.
His current subdued state is a result of a disturbing event in December where his house was broken into while his fiancee and family were inside, while he was playing in a game against Everton.
Guardiola acknowledges that it may have had an impact on him.
He stated that he was certain it had an impact on him. He hoped that after a few days, he would forget about it, but he was still convinced that he had been affected by it. I also felt affected and would have been affected as well.
The situation with him, his girlfriend, and family was difficult, so I believe it had an impact on him.
“But he managed the situation very effectively. He is an extraordinary individual with great compassion.”
“We have made an effort to assist him with the resources and personnel available to us, but unfortunately, it did not work out. We have not discussed this topic recently, so hopefully everything is okay.”
Guardiola highlighted that Grealish’s limited involvement was mainly a result of the strong performances from other players.
He stated that it is not a significant issue, in fact, it is the opposite. He is facing tough competition from skilled players. He is gradually improving to reach his peak performance. We require everyone, including Jack.
