Mauricio Pochettino maintains that he is not delusional for having faith in Chelsea’s potential for success, even as they face a mounting injury dilemma before their game against Sheffield United on Saturday.
This week, Pochettino has added defenders Marc Cucurella and Reece James, as well as goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, to his list of injured players for Chelsea.
Pochettino announced that James, who was taken off during Sunday’s defeat against Everton, is currently feeling disheartened due to his latest hamstring injury. This comes after already missing a significant portion of the season due to a similar problem. Additionally, Sanchez is expected to be out for a few weeks due to a knee injury.
The manager of the Blues, who appears to be giving goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic his first chance to start and potentially allowing Christopher Nkunku to make his debut for 12th-ranked Chelsea, continues to be very excited about his overall goals at Stamford Bridge. He still sees it as an incredible opportunity.
Pochettino expressed his enthusiasm for the project, acknowledging its difficulty due to unforeseen circumstances. Despite expecting some challenges, the team has faced unexpected difficulties in the past six months.
However, this is a challenge that can ultimately benefit us. We will not back down and we will continue to persevere. I believe this situation will prompt us to become more intelligent, strategic, and improve our coaching team.
I believe the challenge is significant, but I have faith that we can be successful. It may take time, but it’s important to remain patient and trust in our approach.
”
It can be challenging in football to maintain belief when results don’t go as desired. Time is not a concern for me, as I am confident that we will ultimately achieve success. You will see for yourself.
“Perhaps at the moment, you may think ‘this person is insane’, but I assure you, I am not. I am confident in my actions.”
Pochettino cautioned against putting too much pressure on summer acquisition Nkunku, despite the excitement surrounding his debut. He emphasized the importance of remaining calm and not overwhelming the player.
He also emphasized that the club should have faith in Petrovic to fill in for Sanchez, even though he has only played six minutes in the Premier League.
The Argentinian manager promised to do everything in their power to support their captain, who has been struggling with injuries. A previous hamstring problem caused him to miss nine matches at the beginning of the season.
Pochettino stated that it is important to thoroughly examine the current situation. The individual in question is feeling a bit low because they were extremely enthusiastic about returning. Pochettino believes that the gradual approach to their return was ideal.
“It was an ideal method for boosting his self-esteem and aiding in his complete recovery. The injury has been a challenge for him to come to terms with. He is extremely disappointed and frustrated. Moving forward, we must be cautious in our discussions and carefully evaluate to determine the best solution for him to maintain consistency.”
“We will provide him with our support and attempt to assist him. Of course, we are all considering ways to quickly rejoin the group, fully recover, and prevent a similar situation from occurring in the future.”
Pochettino acknowledged that the Chelsea owners have complete faith in him, stating: “Since I arrived, the communication has remained consistent from pre-season until now.”
“Although it is still communication, words are not necessary in football. The crucial aspect is being present.”
I am present because of their trust. Once they no longer trust, I will no longer be here.
