Martin Odegaard is optimistic that the devastating loss of the Premier League title by Arsenal last season can serve as motivation for them to win it this year.
For 248 days, the Gunners were in the lead during the previous season, but they were eventually caught and surpassed by the eventual champions, Manchester City.
Once again, Mikel Arteta’s team is in the running this season. However, they were unable to reclaim the top spot as they lost 2-0 at home to West Ham on Thursday night.
If the outcomes are in their favor, a win against Fulham on December 31st could potentially keep Arsenal at the top of the standings as they enter 2024. This is where Odegaard hopes to improve upon last year’s performance.
“Hopefully, we have gained some insights from last year. It was a harsh conclusion to our season,” he stated.
“We can utilize this positively and demonstrate that we have acquired valuable knowledge and experience.”
“We are aware of the caliber of Manchester City and the other teams in the league, and we recognize that it is a highly competitive league. However, we have confidence in our abilities to persist and continue to progress.”
“The competition in this league is unparalleled and every match, regardless of the opponent, is bound to be a challenging battle.”
After a strong performance at Liverpool resulting in a tie, Arsenal suffered a loss to West Ham and now have to face Craven Cottage in only three days.
Odegaard noted, “Fortunately, we have another match coming up soon, so there’s no reason to dwell on this disappointment for too long.”
“We must ensure that we are prepared for the match against Fulham and secure a victory – the league is challenging, but we must be prepared for every game and opponent. We will use this experience to improve and return even stronger.”
“We must win many games to become champions, so we approach each game with the mindset of winning.”
