At what point did Klopp become aware that he would be departing?

“It was around that time, I realized last season. You may have the chance to compare when I first joined the club to a current photo and think, nine years already?”

Klopp shared his thoughts on Liverpool, including the city and its culture: “I had no idea what to expect here. I just knew it was all about the people.”

“I am proud to say that this is the top club in the world. As a proud resident of Liverpool, I never realized it before, but being a part of this club is one of the greatest accomplishments of my life.”

Hogan discussed the exits of coaches Pep Ljinders and Vitor Matos, stating that the decision was made in their best interest and the team will support their future endeavors.

Klopp mentioned that while he will be taking a break, his coaching staff is prepared and ready to continue their work.

The influence they have had throughout the years, particularly Pep [Ljinders], is unparalleled. I am aware that I must show gratitude towards him. He provided me with numerous new perspectives and aided in my growth.

“I will provide my support and follow from my current location as they all pursue it. I am looking forward to it greatly as there are high expectations for them.”

Could Klopp possibly have a change of heart?

“He stated that his mind remains unclouded due to the positive dynamics within the club. I am responsible for making a decision at some point as no one else will.”

My goal for this season is to achieve success in all competitions. Even if we do not come out on top, my mindset will remain the same. My focus is on the progress and growth of the team.

Klopp expressed his hope that fans will understand and respect his decision. He also stated that he is not currently in the mindset to express gratitude. However, he acknowledges that these situations may occur and it is now time to move forward with the season.

I have no confusion about my feelings for the fans, and they also have no confusion about their feelings towards me. These games should not revolve around me, but rather we need support for all of them. We want and need that support.

Right now, I am thoroughly enjoying every minute. However, the tasks that come with it can be quite overwhelming. This includes planning, dealing with transfer periods, and preparing for pre-season.

I have held six press conferences per week for nearly a decade and I eagerly anticipate the day when I no longer have to do so. It is crucial to constantly challenge oneself, especially at a prestigious club like Liverpool, where the expectations of so many are at stake. I cannot continue to operate at less than full capacity and I never wanted to simply go along for the ride in all of this.

There may be many more skilled managers out there, but my approach is focused on building strong relationships and requires full dedication from everyone involved.

My current position is a result of my identity. If I can no longer remain true to myself, it is necessary to inform those around me. I have reached a point where I can no longer continue in this way. Despite several years passing, I have not expressed this before.

The CEO of Liverpool, Billy Hogan, spoke to the press regarding Klopp’s departure, stating, “It’s difficult to express the magnitude of this decision. When Jurgen joined in 2015, he talked about leaving the club in a better state than when he arrived.”

“I am somewhat taken aback, but I comprehend the situation. It is a somber day, but it speaks to Jurgen’s character that he has made a decision that will facilitate a smooth transition for the club. It is not an easy task to handle this news before it becomes public.”
