Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool are set to face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League on Saturday, as they navigate through a long list of injured players.
Tomorrow at 3pm, the Reds will have the opportunity to increase their lead to four points in the Premier League standings. Their visit to the City Ground will put the pressure on Manchester City and Arsenal.
It has been an exceptional week at Anfield as Liverpool triumphed over Chelsea in extra time to win the Carabao Cup, followed by a 3-0 victory over Southampton in the FA Cup quarter-finals for Klopp’s team.
The manager, Klopp, has looked to the academy players to maintain Liverpool’s pursuit of winning four titles. Jayden Danns, Lewis Koumas, James McConnell, Bobby Clark, and Conor Bradley have all shined after being given an unexpected opportunity in the first-team.
However, Klopp will be eager to have his senior players who are currently injured back on the field as quickly as possible. The team is determined to continue their streak of wins as they make a comeback in the race for the Premier League title.
The most recent updates on injuries for Liverpool before tomorrow’s match against Nottingham Forest, as reported by Klopp’s team.
Mohamed Salah
Liverpool’s leading goal scorer was unable to participate in the Carabao Cup final due to discomfort he felt upon returning from a hamstring injury. However, he has since recovered and resumed training after Klopp stated he was uncertain if he would be able to play in the match against Southampton. As a precaution, Salah was not included in the lineup, but he may be eligible to play against Forest this upcoming weekend.
Darwin Nunez
Similar to Salah, Nunez was not played in the FA Cup during the week, but it seems like he may be available to play against Forest.
Dominik Szoboszlai
The £60m summer signing has not played since Liverpool’s 4-1 over Chelsea on January 31 after the recurrence of a hamstring injury – Klopp has suggested his condition is similar to Salah and Nunez and that Szoboszlai is close to returning.
Wataru Endo
Following his significant contribution in the Carabao Cup final, Endo was seen leaving Wembley with his foot protected by a boot. Despite returning to Liverpool’s training base without the boot, the Japanese player was not included in the match against Southampton. However, he may be able to participate in the upcoming game against Forest.
Ryan Gravenberch
The player from the Netherlands was carried off the field at Wembley following a tackle by Chelsea’s Moises Caicedo, however his ankle injury is not severe. Gravenberch will likely be absent for the upcoming game, but may make a comeback afterwards.
Trent Alexander-Arnold
The deputy captain will not be available until after the international break in March due to a knee injury. As a result, he will not be able to participate in the potential decisive match for the Premier League title against Manchester City on 10 March.
Alisson Becker
Although Caoimhin Kelleher has performed impressively as the goalkeeper, Liverpool is eager to have their first-choice player back in the game as soon as possible. Unfortunately, due to a hamstring injury, Alisson will not be returning until after the international break, and it is possible that his next appearance will be during the Brighton game on March 31.
Curtis Jones
The 23-year-old sustained an injury to his ankle during the match against Brentford and as a result, was unable to participate in another Wembley final against Chelsea. Similar to Alexander-Arnold and Alisson, Jones will not return until after the international break, causing him to also miss the FA Cup quarter-final against Manchester United.
Diogo Jota
Jota sustained a knee injury on February 17th during the Brentford match, and according to Klopp, he will be sidelined for “months” rather than “weeks”.
Thiago Alcantara
Jurgen Klopp stated that there is currently no specific timeframe for Thiago’s return. The 32-year-old, who has already faced numerous injuries this past year, sustained another one as a substitute in the 85th minute during the 3-1 loss against Arsenal at the Emirates.
Stefan Bajcetic
Bajcetic has not participated in any games since last September following a fantastic season. The 19-year-old has not resumed team training yet.
Joel Matip
The defender sustained an ACL injury during the 2-0 victory against Sheffield United in December, and will now be unable to play for the remainder of the season.
