Jurgen Klopp expressed his sense of relief upon learning that Luis Diaz’s father had been released from his kidnapping after nearly two weeks.
The National Liberation Army has held Luis Manuel Diaz captive, but after several days of talks with the Colombian Football Federation, he has been released.
12 days ago, the father of the Liverpool winger and his wife, Cilenis Marulanda, were taken, but Diaz’s mother was released quickly.
Prior to Liverpool’s game against Toulouse, Klopp remarked, “Lucho seems to be in high spirits, always giving a thumbs up.”
The timing could not have been more perfect.
