Jason Tindall has no regrets about getting under the skin of rival managers, even though he unintentionally gained a lot of attention online.
Eddie Howe, the manager of Newcastle, has an assistant who has recently gained attention for his behavior on the sidelines. This has sparked numerous memes on social media and earned him the nickname “Mad Dog”.
During his journey, he has gained a following among Magpies fans and solidified himself as the individual that opposing fans – as well as certain managers – enjoy disliking, despite his claim that he does not intentionally seek out conflict.
In place of the unwell head coach Howe, Tindall will be taking on media responsibilities for the upcoming Premier League game against Luton on Saturday. Tindall clarified, “I am not intentionally doing this, I am simply being myself.”
“No one’s opinions or instructions will change who I am. I will continue to be true to myself and stay true to my authentic self, regardless of what others may think.”
I apologize if I have caused any irritation or upset to other managers. My main focus is on helping Newcastle United succeed in their matches.
My sole motivation is the kick-off and I will do everything in my control to support the team. If this bothers some people, then that is okay.
Tindall’s impact has been noticeable since he joined Howe at St James’ Park in November 2021. Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has implied that the new rule, which limits the number of coaching staff allowed to stand at the front of the technical area during matches to one, was implemented specifically to address Newcastle’s situation.
Howe’s long-term number two, who admitted the German was “probably” right, was the centre of attention once again after Tuesday night’s impressive win at Aston Villa when Villa boss Unai Emery appeared to snub his handshake.
Tindall stated that he cannot control whether or not someone chooses to shake his hand after a game. He personally would not choose to act differently depending on the outcome of the game, unlike others who may do so.
“It ultimately depends on the person, but I never intentionally try to create such an issue. If they dislike what they witness, it doesn’t bother me, I’m not affected by it.”
Tindall’s unexpected new-found celebrity – he is regularly serenaded by the Toon Army – may be unexpected, but he is adamant he will not be carried away by it.
He stated that he does not take everything too seriously and does not pay much attention to what people say on social media. This is expected in his line of work where he is constantly in the public eye.
Howe is anticipated to be on the sidelines for the match against the Hatters and is facing a number of last-minute choices regarding Alexander Isak, Callum Wilson, Harvey Barnes, and Joe Willock as they are all being evaluated.
