On Saturday, Jadon Sancho’s return to Borussia Dortmund resulted in an immediate impact with a goal assist in their 3-0 victory over Darmstadt in the Bundesliga.
Sancho, who plays for the England national team, returned to Dortmund on a temporary basis this week after being excluded from the first-team squad at Manchester United.
The 23-year-old had not participated in senior level football since August, but wasted no time making an impact when he entered the game as a substitute in the 55th minute.
Shortly after being subbed on, Sancho had a shot denied. In the 77th minute, he created an opportunity in the box and set up Marco Reus for the away team’s second goal.
Youssoufa Moukoko scored in the final moments to secure a win for Dortmund, who had been in the lead since Julian Brandt’s goal in the 24th minute.
Sancho stated during an interview with Sky Sports that he feels like he’s back at home since his return and is pleased to be playing on the field once more.
I simply desire to regain my happiness, return to playing on the field, and assist the team in reaching the top three and securing a spot in the Champions League.
I have individual objectives that I am not ready to reveal at the moment. My main focus is supporting the team.
