England vs Netherlands LIVE: Score updates Saka goal ruled out and double change

78 mins: Ally McCoist and Lee Dixon on ITV commentary are begging for Southgate to switch things up and inject some change of momentum into this game.

Netherlands get a shot away from the edge of the box but it’s drilled into the floor and loops up safely for Jordan Pickford.

Our football reporter Karl Matchett has picked up on a big shift in momentum this half:

The runs in behind have stopped, the attacking passes at pace too. Jordan Pickford is the goalkeeper who has had to do more work in this half and Bukayo Saka, influential in the first 45 minutes when dovetailing with Phil Foden, has basically been a bystander. Southgate hasn’t made early subs in the knockout rounds by and large, but it’s looking like time for him to make an alteration or watch the Dutch only continue to grow in confidence.

75 mins: Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka both believe they’ve been fouled but again the referee isn’t interested. Cody Gakpo then receives the same treatment as Kyle Walker comes across and tackles him with a fine and perfectly timed slide.

72 mins: More changes are needed to swing the momentum of the game again. It’s coasting along for England with the Netherlands starting to exert some pressure.

Gareth Southgate must see this. There are plenty of options on the bench but which way will he go?

Bellingham gets booked for a tackle on Stefan de Vrij but doesn’t get to the ball in time.

69 mins: Pickford doesn’t take a chance as Gakpo beats Saka and smokes a cross over to the back post. Netherlands have a couple of targets waiting for the ball but the goalkeeper tips it out for a corner.

The corner comes into the middle and Ake’s header finds Pickford but the whistle goes early for an England free kick.

66 mins: Save! Joey Veerman whips a lovely free kick into the penalty area for the Netherlands. England don’t deal with it and Virgil van Dijk is on hand to poke the ball towards goal.

Jordan Pickford sees it early and palms it wide of the post. Good save from the England goalkeeper.

64 mins: The tempo of the match has dropped significantly. Ronald Koeman’s changes have stifled England’s control in midfield and the Three Lions are back to searching for some creativity.

It’s certainly more reminiscent of their earlier games in this tournament.

The Netherlands needed to switch it up. They were being outplayed towards the end of the first half and this feels like a more even playing field again.

62 mins: Cody Gakpo goes on a fine run and weaves inside of Kyle Walker before switching the ball out to Denzel Dumfries.

Gakpo wants the cross early but Dumfries passes it inside to Joey Veerman whose cross is too high and too long to be a danger for England.

60 mins: The referee has been fairly lenient tonight. Kane is shouldered off the ball and goes down but doesn’t complain when the referee plays on.

Denzel Dumfries then thinks he was hindered by Luke Shaw trying to control a dropping ball but again the referee lets the game flow.
