The organization of fans for Liverpool, Spirit of Shankly, agrees with Jurgen Klopp’s statement about the lackluster atmosphere at Anfield. However, they are worried about how the high cost of tickets has impacted the culture of football fandom.
Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, expressed disappointment with the lack of support from the home crowd during the Carabao Cup quarter-final match against West Ham. He urged fans to give away their tickets if they are not willing to support the team in their upcoming Premier League match against title rivals Arsenal on Saturday.
The Shankly Spirit group, established in 2008, acknowledged the worrisome atmosphere among fans and is currently discussing with the club how to address the issue.
Our group agrees with Jurgen Klopp’s concerns about the atmosphere at Anfield, or lack thereof, on occasion.
“We frequently engage in discussions about this topic, as it is a fundamental aspect of our club and the Anfield community. Those of us who are most dedicated are determined to safeguard it.”

“It is not a coincidence that opposing teams, coaches, and fans refer to the ‘Anfield effect’. The intimidating crowd and unmatched atmosphere are well known to make it difficult for visiting teams. Just ask Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Manchester City, or Arsenal from last season.”
“We do have concerns though about the lack of opportunities for young supporters to go to the game, catch the bug and preserve this decades-long culture of the Kop, and deep-rooted worries that our culture is being watered down by greater corporate offerings and out-of-reach ticket prices – echoed by supporters across the Premier League.
“We are actively communicating with the club to find ways to enhance the current situation, increase youth involvement at Anfield, and create an optimal atmosphere for every game.”
