Wizz Air has declared that it will recommence flights connecting the United Kingdom and Israel.
Several airlines halted their flights to Israel in October due to the beginning of the nation’s conflict with Hamas.
Wizz Air announced plans to resume flights to the Middle Eastern country in March, offering routes from Budapest, Sofia, Bucharest, Krakow, London, and Rome to Tel Aviv.
The airline from Hungary used to operate flights between the United Kingdom and Israel, departing from Gatwick and Luton airports.
There have been no announcements from British Airways, Virgin Atlantic, or easyJet regarding their plans to resume flights to Israel.
Due to the dispute, Ryanair was compelled to cancel 870 flights in October.
Despite the ongoing conflict, El Al, an Israeli airline, has remained operational with flights between the UK and Tel Aviv.
During the same period last year, Wizz Air experienced a 16 percent rise in operating losses, going from €155.5 million (£133 million) in October to December 2022 to €180.4 million (£154 million).
Jozsef Varadi, the CEO, stated that during the quarter, the company had to deal with political issues in Israel and the Middle East. As a precaution, they cancelled certain flights in order to ensure the safety of their passengers, employees, assets, and the public.
“Despite the flight cancellations and sudden changes in capacity, we effectively handled our operations, resulting in improved on-time performance and significantly higher utilization compared to the previous year.”
