War-stricken lions from Ukraine have been brought to Yorkshire Wildlife Park to embark on a new journey.

The Yorkshire Wildlife Park saved a total of four lions from the violent conflicts in Ukraine.

Mother Aysa along with her three cubs, Emi, Santa, and Teddi, resided in a Polish holding facility for a period of nine months after fleeing from Russian bombings.

Aysa, who lived in the Donetsk region, had to leave her private collection behind when Ukraine was taken over by invading forces under the control of Vladimir Putin.

Poznan Zoo is currently hosting a mother bear named Aysa and her cubs. Aysa was found alone, undernourished, and emotionally affected by bombings. She was initially brought to an interim sanctuary in Kyiv, where she gave birth to her cubs before being transferred to Poznan Zoo.

On Tuesday, they traveled 1,000 miles to reach Yorkshire and arrived at the wildlife park. They were unloaded and settled into their new home on Thursday.
