Live updates: Trump ruminates on Colorado decision while Texas considers blocking Biden.

Donald Trump has been barred from appearing on Colorado’s 2024 election ballot.

Donald Trump is persistently expressing anger towards Colorado’s Supreme Court’s ruling to prevent him from being on the state’s 2024 election ballots. He is now shifting his criticism towards Joe Biden, making unfounded claims that the president played a role in the decision and asserting that he poses a danger to democracy.

On Tuesday, in a 4-3 vote, the justices determined that Mr. Trump could be excluded from the Republican ballot in the state due to the 14th Amendment, which prevents individuals who have taken a constitutional oath and subsequently “engaged in insurrection” from holding public office. This decision was made in light of his involvement in inciting the violent events at the Capitol on January 6.

“We have not come to these conclusions without careful consideration,” stated the majority opinion. “We are also mindful of our responsibility to impartially uphold the law, regardless of public opinion or influence.”

The ruling, which has been postponed until the beginning of January, is specific to Colorado and President Trump has pledged to contest it. He has also been actively seeking donations based on the recent setback to his campaign.

As the Republican party becomes increasingly outraged, Texas’ lieutenant governor Dan Patrick has stated that he may take retaliatory action by removing Mr. Biden from the ballot in his state. Meanwhile, California is considering following in Colorado’s footsteps.

The President, Trump, urges the Supreme Court to delay their ruling on the issue of “presidential immunity”.

The lawyers representing Trump have advised the US Supreme Court to decline a request for an expedited hearing regarding his argument of “presidential immunity” in relation to the charges against him for his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election.

A document submitted to the highest court in the country on Wednesday addresses a plea from Justice Department special counsel Jack Smith to speed up the review of the ex-president’s argument of “immunity” in a case involving a federal election conspiracy that Trump is seeking to dismiss.

The judge in charge of the case has dismissed those claims and Trump has stated that he will challenge the decision. However, the prosecution has reached out to the Supreme Court to obtain a clear ruling on whether a former President can be completely protected from federal prosecution for offenses committed while in office, or if they are still constitutionally shielded from prosecution if they have been impeached but not convicted prior to the start of criminal proceedings.

Trump’s legal team urged the Supreme Court to deny the request and claimed that prosecutors were attempting to circumvent their appeal.

Biden states that it is undeniable that Trump aided the insurrection on January 6th.

Joe Biden, the current President, has stated that there is no doubt that his predecessor, Donald Trump, encouraged an insurrection. This statement comes after the Colorado state Supreme Court declared Trump ineligible for the presidency.

During a press conference in Milwaukee, Biden was questioned about his thoughts on whether the Republican in question was an insurrectionist.

“It’s clear,” he responded. “You witnessed everything. As for the applicability of the 14th Amendment, I will leave that decision to the court. However, it is undeniable that he supported an insurrection. There is no doubt about it. None at all.”

Mary Trump celebrates her uncle’s recent defeat in the election.

While the Magaverse is furious over the Colorado Supreme Court’s ruling, one person who is frankly loving it all is the president’s estranged niece Dr Mary L Trump.

On Tuesday, she responded to the news about X by posting a few excited messages about ketchup. This was in reference to Cassidy Hutchinson, a former White House aide, who amusingly revealed to the House Jan 6 committee last year that Trump threw his lunch against the wall in frustration. This was because he found out that his then-attorney general, Bill Barr, had admitted there was no evidence to support Trump’s false claims of election fraud.

For those intrigued by Trump’s rebellious niece who has now become his enemy, here is a biography.

A government representative from Texas is making threats to remove Joe Biden’s name from the election ballot as a form of retaliation.

During an interview with Laura Ingraham on Fox News, Texas lieutenant governor Dan Patrick joined the chorus of Republicans criticizing the Colorado Supreme Court’s divisive decision, but he took it a step further.

Patrick proposed that the GOP take action to independently remove Joe Biden from the list of candidates in states such as Texas, where they have control over local government.

Although he made a strong statement, he also clarified that his party would not actually follow through because they value democracy.

“Perhaps we should remove Joe Biden from the Texas ballot due to his presidency resulting in 8 million people crossing the border, causing more disruption to our state than any other recent event,” were the precise statements made.

Kellyanne Conway, who used to be an adviser to Trump, suggested the same idea to South Dakota governor Kristi Noem on the same network, but Noem politely declined.

According to The Daily Beast, the repercussions of the Colorado verdict are also being felt in California. There are reports of a movement to also remove Trump from there.

There is additional information about Patrick from John Bowden.

Trump is still brooding over the launch of Truth Social.

Has Donald Trump accepted the decision of the Colorado Supreme Court stating that he is not eligible to hold any public office in the future due to his involvement in the January 6th insurrection at the US Capitol?

No, he has not. Absolutely not.

Instead, he has been actively using Truth Social to express his support for other conservatives who have also been hurt and sharing angry messages in all capital letters, such as this one:

Yesterday, IndyTV provided a recap of his response.

Trump made an untrue statement about a court ruling in Colorado, calling it “election interference”.

Trump will not be eligible to run for the 2024 election in Colorado. Here’s how other candidates, such as Nikki Haley, are reacting to the news.

During a press conference in Iowa, Ms. Haley stated that although she does not think Mr. Trump is fit to be president, it should ultimately be the voters’ decision, not the judges’.

“I believe that it would be more beneficial for the country if I were president instead of Donald Trump,” stated Ms. Haley.

She stated that instead of judges, it should be up to voters to make these decisions. She wants to see the power in the hands of the voters. She also expressed a desire to win through proper means and by taking necessary actions.

The ex-governor of South Carolina and representative to the United Nations expressed that it is not beneficial for the country to have judges making decisions on who can participate in elections.

, Governor of Arkansas

As a result of a new law in Colorado, Donald Trump will not be eligible to appear on the 2024 ballot. This change has elicited reactions from other potential candidates, including Asa Hutchinson, the Governor of Arkansas.

The ex-governor of Arkansas was the sole potential candidate for 2024 who did not defend the ex-president, stating that “the verified conclusion that he endorsed insurrection will negatively impact his chances of running.”

During the initial GOP debate, which was the only one he was eligible for and took part in, Mr. Hutchinson expressed worries about Mr. Trump’s eligibility to be on the ballot.

In the August debate, Mr. Hutchinson was questioned about whether he would back the former president if he became the Republican nominee for the National Committee. However, the ex-governor stated that Mr. Trump’s involvement in the events of January 6th could disqualify him from holding the presidency.

What was the approach of other states to the argument of the 14th Amendment?

The state of Colorado is the initial to remove Mr. Trump based on the 14th Amendment. Up to this point, the lawsuits filed in other states have been dismissed or denied.

In the beginning of this month, a federal judge in Arizona dismissed a lawsuit brought by a lesser-known Republican candidate seeking to remove Mr. Trump from office based on the 14th Amendment.

Judges in New Hampshire and Rhode Island have thrown out comparable lawsuits filed in their respective states.

The election ballot in Colorado has prohibited Trump from participating.

The majority of the Colorado Supreme Court was persuaded by the argument in a 4-3 decision announced on December 19th.

The court ruled that Mr. Trump is subject to Section Three of the 14th Amendment, making it a violation of the Election Code for the Colorado secretary of state to include him as a candidate on the primary ballot for president.

In the past month, the Justices listened to arguments in the case. A judge at the district court level had previously determined that the provision did not pertain to the president. The judge’s reasoning was that Section Three does not specifically mention the presidency, but rather only “officers of the United States.” Additionally, the presidential oath contains different language from other officers, so it was not covered under this provision.

The justices of the state’s supreme court stated that they viewed the role of the presidency as belonging to the category of “officers of the United States.”

The justices unanimously acknowledged that January 6 was a rebellion and that Mr. Trump played a role in it by sending messages to his supporters. This point has been heavily debated in other states.

The justices stated in the majority opinion that they did not come to these conclusions easily. They are aware of the importance and significance of the issues at hand. They also recognize their responsibility to uphold the law impartially, regardless of public opinion.

The Trump camp has mostly objected to this by arguing that none of the January 6 rioters who were convicted of crimes related to the attack on Congress have been specifically accused of participating in a rebellion or insurrection.

According to Jonathan Turley, a conservative legal scholar from George Washington University, the assault on Congress was initially a peaceful protest that escalated into a riot. Turley has also criticized the more severe charges brought against militia leaders and argued that former President Trump’s speech on the White House lawn prior to the outbreak of violence cannot be considered incitement.

President Trump stated his intention to challenge the ruling, and it is probable that the case will be taken to the US Supreme Court.
