Today, SpaceX will send out another group of Starlink satellites from the Space Launch Complex 40 in California’s Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.
A total of 23 satellites will be launched by a Falcon 9 rocket, with an estimated time of 8.5 minutes to reach the droneship positioned 342 miles above the Earth. This will be the 263rd mission for Elon Musk’s company’s booster.
Starlink offers internet access via satellites to regions that are typically not served, or where internet access is affected by situations like war. Each satellite has a lifespan of approximately five years.
The 36th annual Space Symposium in 2021 saw SpaceX chief operating officer Gwynne Shotwell announce that all Starlink satellites are equipped with laser crosslinks, enabling them to exchange data among each other.
Elon Musk hopes that the current number of Starlink satellites in orbit, which is over 3,000, is just the beginning.
