Passengers using the UK rail system experienced difficulties during their travels this morning due to technical issues on the Trainline ticketing platform.
During peak commuting time, over 1,200 reports were submitted to the DownDetector website, causing disruptions to journeys. Most of the problems have impacted users of the app, but there have also been some reports of issues with the website.
Passenger Emily Driscoll wrote on Twitter/X that she was late this morning as “queues for tickets were 30 minutes long”, while Cameron Schedije sarcastically said that the incident proves “the plans to close ticket offices were always sound and well thought through”.
A different individual criticized the condition of transportation in Britain, stating “The railway system in the UK is the worst globally.”
Several of the grievances came from individuals who had previously bought tickets through Trainline, but were unable to access them during the service disruption. As a result, they had to purchase another ticket at the station.
Trainline has encountered technical issues with our app and website, which may prevent some customers from searching for or booking train and coach trips.
We apologize for any disruption this may have caused. Rest assured, we are diligently working to resolve the issue.
The issue has been resolved, as stated by the company on Twitter/X stating “we are back”. However, numerous individuals seem to be experiencing difficulties.
The Independent has reached out to Trainline for additional details.
This is the second instance this month of issues with the travel company’s IT system.
Trainline issued an apology on November 3rd for the inconvenience caused to customers who were unable to search or book trains or coaches. This issue resurfaced again on November 7th.
In March of this year, during a significant strike, Trainline ceased functioning. This resulted in users being unable to view train schedules or make bookings.
Will the Trainline have discounts on Railcards for their Black Friday sale?
