The discount supermarket Aldi in Germany has stated that it will once again raise its hourly wages, marking the second increase this year.
Store assistants and deputy store managers outside of London will receive a pay increase from £12 to £12.40, effective June 1st.
Aldi announced that employees in London can expect an increase in their wages from £13.55 to £13.65.
Aldi has given its employees in Britain a second salary increase in 2020, following raises in February.
Some food and clothing stores have increased the lowest pay for their employees in anticipation of a forthcoming rise in the country’s national minimum wage.

According to the supermarket, the most recent salary increase has led to a total investment of £79m in pay for this year.
John Lewis increased their rates by 10% as a supermarket. Asda revealed a pay raise of 8.4% and Marks & Spencer announced a 10.1% increase for approximately 40,000 employees in their stores.
The Bank of England closely monitors changes in wages to determine if inflationary pressures in the British economy have decreased sufficiently to warrant a reduction in interest rates from its current 16-year high.
