Actor Jonathan Majors from Marvel received support from his girlfriend Meagan Good as he faced trial for an assault charge in New York City.
On 25 March, Mr. Majors allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend while they were in a car in the city on their way to his apartment. He has entered a plea of not guilty for all accusations made against him.
The girlfriend has alleged that he struck her, forcefully placed her in the car after she got out, twisted her arm, and grabbed and harmed her hand. The prosecution claims that she received medical treatment for minor injuries to her head and neck, including a cut on her ear.
Priya Chaudhry, the lawyer for Mr. Majors, has referred to the accuser as “dishonest”. In June, Mr. Majors filed a complaint against her, claiming that she physically assaulted him and accused him of texting another woman.
On Wednesday 29 November, the process of selecting the jury began. If Mr Majors is convicted, he could potentially face a maximum sentence of one year in prison.
Who exactly is Jonathan Majors?
In March, Mr. Majors was arrested at the peak of his professional career.
In the year 2023, he was cast in lead roles for three projects: Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Creed III, and the second season of the Loki TV series. In the Loki series, he portrayed the character Kang the Conqueror.
He is still slated to appear in the upcoming Marvel film, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, but it is uncertain if he will continue to be involved in the project.
After being arrested, he was released from his management and a PR company. Additionally, Disney’s Searchlight Features has removed Magazine Dreams from its list of upcoming releases.
On Wednesday, November 29, 2023, actors Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good arrived at court for jury selection in Major’s domestic violence case. They were photographed in the center and on the right, respectively.
The judge will request for the courtroom to be vacated for the purpose of a legal debate.
The judge presiding over the case intends to remove all spectators from the public courtroom in the afternoon, in order for lawyers to discuss the potential admission of a sealed piece of evidence.
Judge Michael Gaffey has granted permission for Mr. Majors’ attorneys to present arguments regarding the information, which has been characterized as potentially biased and incendiary, to be omitted from the case.
