After about a month, authorities are asking for the public’s help in gathering additional details regarding the suspect who was recently released in connection with the murder of Samantha Woll, a leader at a synagogue in Detroit who was fatally stabbed in her residence.
The Detroit Police Department reported that the homicide investigation is still ongoing after the suspect was released without charges on Friday.
“Police stated on X that, despite recent events, they plan to provide the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office with a thorough presentation of all relevant information.”
The statement continued, “We are asking the community for any information and we thank you for your patience as investigators carefully review all aspects of this case.” The statement also expressed condolences to Ms Woll’s loved ones.
Numerous inquiries surrounding the case still remain unanswered, as no charges have been filed and there are currently no suspects in custody.

Authorities have faced scrutiny to clarify the situation regarding the investigation after the agency released its single detained individual earlier this week.
It was announced on November 8th that a person was detained by authorities, but no information was given about their identity or any accusations against them. According to Michigan law, suspects can only be detained for 72 hours before charges must be brought against them. On November 11th, the suspect was released without charges, as confirmed by their lawyer.
The general population appears to be growing increasingly restless as each day goes by following the passing of the 40-year-old on October 21st. It remains unclear if she returned alone or with a companion around 12:30am the next morning after attending a wedding the previous night.
According to Detroit Police Chief James White, it is believed that the individual was stabbed in her residence before exiting and ultimately collapsing on the pavement, several days following her death.
The leader stated that there was no proof of forced entry at Woll’s residence and there were no indications of self-defense. Law enforcement has also dismissed the idea that her demise was motivated by antisemitism, citing an undisturbed Israeli flag displayed in her home.
According to CNN, authorities are investigating Woll’s death as a result of a domestic disagreement.
Woll held the position of president at the Isaac Agree Downtown Synagogue and has prior experience as an aide to Democratic Representative Elissa Slotkin and as a campaign worker for Attorney General Dana Nessel.
