Overnight, temperatures once again fell below freezing as the cold spell of autumn persisted.
Some regions in Scotland, northern England, and Wales experienced temperatures below freezing during the night, reaching as low as -5C in certain parts of Scotland. Other areas were at or near freezing.
Cloud building from the west through the evening and early on Sunday kept temperatures, particularly in the west, above zero.
According to the Met Office, temperatures during the day on Sunday will generally remain cool. However, increasing cloud cover may lead to slightly warmer weather in western areas.
According to meteorologist Ellie Glaisyer from the Met Office, northern and eastern areas of England can expect to feel “very cold” on Sunday with temperatures reaching only the mid-single digits.
Milder temperatures of 9-11C are expected in the South West due to cloud and rain.
Throughout Sunday, rain showers will gradually move from Northern Ireland and southwest England to the southern region of the country.
The rest of the areas will have cloudy skies, while central Scotland will see the most sunshine.
On Sunday evening, temperatures will continue to be low, but they will not be as severe as they were in the past two nights. Ms Glaisyer mentioned that the possibility of frost is also reduced.
There is a forecast for rain to persist in an eastward direction on Sunday night, but it is expected to ease on Monday and result in clearer skies.
There is a possibility of showers and hill snow in Scotland and northeast England on another chilly day, while the south may experience warmer temperatures.
