According to court documents, the individual accused of murdering a priest in Nebraska was discovered lying on top of the victim’s body in the shape of a “human cross” after stabbing him.
43-year-old Kierre L Williams has been charged with the murder of 65-year-old Stephen Gutgsell, who was fatally stabbed in the rectory of St John the Baptist Church in Fort Calhoun on Sunday.
According to the official document submitted on Tuesday in Washington County court, the police were called to the location and discovered Gutgsell with a serious cut on his face, causing significant bleeding.
According to documents obtained by WOWT, Williams, a resident of Iowa, was discovered with blood on their body, positioned in a cross shape on top of the clergyman.
The police then came up to the two individuals and instructed Williams to move away from Gutgsell so that EMS personnel could assist him.
According to court records, Williams followed the directive and provided an unintelligible response when questioned about being armed.

Gutgsell’s attorney expressed that his client was filled with great remorse for his actions.
The stabbing of Gutgsell marks the second homicide in Fort Calhoun in 2021.
